Liver detox- Day one

Here we go! Tasha and I went out to the co-op last night, and picked up some of the veggies we would need to make the potassium broth for the vegetable and fruit juice fast. She went back out to the farmers market this morning, and got some awesome fresh squeezed apple cider. We made up some of the Liver Flush Tea, put together a pot of the broth and we got started!

It was a beautiful day here today. Both of us went for bike rides and got to enjoy the first day of the weekend. I'm hoping the weather holds out for the next few days to help make this whole process go along more easily.

I'm starting to get flashbacks of what the last fast and detox made me feel like. Right now the most prevalent thought that keeps popping into my head is wanting to going to grab a burrito. The last time I did this fast, the first two days were the worst for hunger pangs. It isn't like you aren't eating anything...you are drinking fruit and vegetable juices. My energy level is still pretty good right now.

The last time I did this detox, day four was Valentines day. I was walking down the street in Davis, WV when my friends Rob, Shannon, Matt and Sarah came driving by. They stopped and asked me where I was going. When I told them I was going home, they insisted that I get in the car, and join them for dinner at White Grass. I told them I was on a fast, but they insisted that I come along anyways.

I don't know if you have ever eaten dinner at White Grass before, but if you have, you will know that having to sit there and not eat dinner, after a four day fast was very difficult. Luckily, I was surrounded by good friends and great conversation, so it wasn't that bad. It turned out to be a good thing I was there, because the rowdy crew that brought me to White grass ended up needing a designated driver to get back.

It is pretty amazing to me how fast my "healing crisis" came on the last time I did this. It all went down for a couple of hours the afternoon of day two. It was smooth sailing for me after that though. That was why we started this detox on the weekend, in hopes that if there is a crisis, it will happen early. Neither of us can afford have the detox negatively affect our focus on school right now. That being said, it is amazing that we can perform this life changing and life sustaining process without much of an affect on our daily lives.

I guess the next four days will tell us how our plans pan out.
